The seed for Local Eats was planted in a coffee shop on Vancouver Island. It was there that Dmitriy, our Founder & CEO, was struck by a thought: about the struggles faced by local farmers, food producers and small sellers of food products. Inspired, he imagined a special platform that would champion their hard work and dedication. A week later and with the first prototype in his hands, Dmitriy shared his idea with Katerina, whose enthusiasm for the concept spoke volumes.

Fueled by their passion, Dmitriy and Katerina embarked on a journey of research and conversations with farmers and small food artisans from across Canada. Their findings cemented their determination to simplify the process of purchasing fresh, locally sourced food while empowering small farmers and artisans to gain visibility and grow their businesses within their communities.

Witnessing firsthand the obstacles encountered by local producers in reaching customers, along with the increasing demand for a transparent and traceable food system, Dmitriy and Katerina decided to create a platform that addresses these challenges and fosters a sustainable food culture across Canada. And so, Local Eats was born.
